PI47456: ABEND0C4 IPIGDISP AT X'40C' ON OVERFLOW OF RECORD COUNTER

Error description

• ABENDS0C4 IPIGDISP + x'40C' on overflow of record counter.
  IMS PA record counter overflows if the value exceeds
  x'7FFFFFFF' resulting in ABEND S0C4 in IPIGDISP+40C.

  x'7FFFFFFF' resulting in abend S0C4 in IPIGDISP+40C.
  

Problem conclusion

• IMS PA keeps individual record counts for each type of log
  entry processed, (i.e. IMS, CEX, MON etc).
  In the case of IMS log records two sets of counters are
  maintained, one set being redundant. It is the redundant set
  which overflows on a value exceeding x'7FFFFFFF' causing an
  invalid branch into an additional processing stream which
  has not been initialized, resulting in the subsequent S0C4
  abend. The redundant set of IMS counters is no longer
  maintained, allowing for a record count of up to x'FFFFFFFF'.
  The individual counter fields will be increased from 4-bytes
  to 8-bytes in the next IMS PA Release.
