Comments

  • This APAR introduces support for the following enhancements:
    1. Dynamic refresh capability of the GEOGROUP
    2. New syntax for the GEOGROUP "Region" XML element
    3. New GEOGROUP "ServerSite" XML element
GDPS now supports the capability to dynamically refresh the
GEOGROUP structure via the GDPS panel interface. A new option
is available via panel VPCPCFG allowing the client to schedule
a GEOGROUP refresh in one or more member systems participating
in the same GEOGROUP. It also allows the client to examine the
active GEOGROUP structure information from each of the member
    systems.
This APAR also introduces new XML syntax allowing the client
to assign nicknames to their XML "Region" specification. In
addition, the client can also specify server site names and
nicknames via a new XML "ServerSite" specification which today
will be used in messaging generated by the GDPS/MGM procedure
    handler.
    MULTIPLE SYSTEM CONSIDERATIONS
The PTF for this APAR must be applied to all controlling systems
defined in the same group within the GEOGROUP structure to be
fully effective. The ability to dynamically refresh a GEOGROUP
member remotely will be disabled until the target system has
    the PTF applied.
    DOCUMENTATION CHANGES
The GDPS/MGM Planning and Implementation Guide (ZG24-6726) and
GDPS/MzGM Planning and Implementation Guide (ZG24-1757) will be
revised in a future edition to describe:
    - Region element syntax extension
    - New ServerSite element syntax
    - New option G, GEOPARM Management, on panel VPCPCFG
    - New GEOGROUP management panels VPCPGEO1 and VPCPGEO2
GDPS Messages and Codes (ZG24-1756) will be revised in a future
edition to describe new messages GEO2191E and GEO2192W, as well
    as changes for message GEO2164E.
Details on the above are provided in the following document:
    PI46795_GEOGROUP_Enhancements.pdf
This is available in the fromibm/docs subdirectory on the FTP
sites for the GDPS/MzGM with GDPS/PPRC package and the
    GDPS/MGM with GDPS/PPRC package.
In addition, these changes will be reflected in a future
edition of GDPS Messages and Codes (ZG24-1756):
    1. Action for the following messages is updated to indicate that
GEOGROUP refresh may be performed via the panel interface:
     GEO2165E GEO2166E GEO2168E GEO2169E GEO2170E GEO2171E
     GEO2172E GEO2173E GEO2174E GEO2175E GEO2176E GEO2177E
     GEO2178E GEO2179E GEO2180E GEO2181E GEO2182E GEO2183E
     GEO2184E GEO2186E GEO2187E GEO2188E GEO2189E GEO2190E
     GEO2191E
    2. Destination for the following messages is revised to
     include Syslog:
     GEO2160E GEO2161E GEO2162E GEO2163E GEO2164E GEO2165E
     GEO2166E GEO2167W GEO2168E GEO2169E GEO2170E GEO2171E
     GEO2172E GEO2173E GEO2174E GEO2175E GEO2176E GEO2177E
     GEO2178E GEO2179E GEO2180E GEO2181E GEO2182E GEO2183E
     GEO2184E GEO2185I GEO2186E GEO2187E GEO2188E GEO2189E
