  • Cognos on z/OS could not be stopped on WAS.  You may see
    java.net.ConnectException: EDC8128I Connection refused error
    during the shutdown.

    * Additional Configuration:                                    *
    * -In the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console, *
    * expand Servers > Server Types, and click WebSphere           *
    * application servers.                                         *
    * -Click the application server. For example, click server1.   *
    * -Click the Configuration tab.                                *
    * -Under Server Infrastructure, expand Java and Process        *
    * Management, and click Process definition.                    *
    * -Click Servant.                                              *
    * -Under Additional Properties, click Java Virtual Machine.    *
    * -In Generic JVM arguments, add the following:                *
    * -Dcom.ibm.cognos.disp.useDaemonThreads=true                  *
    * If you have any existing entries, add a space before you add *
    * the new argument.                                            *
    * -Click Apply.                                                *
    * -Click Save.                                                 *
    * -Restart the IBM Cognos BI services.                         *
