APAR status

Error description

  • Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable may be uninstalled when
uninstalling AppScan Source software
This can happen if  Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable was
previously installed or was installed during the installation of
AppScan Source.

Local fix

  • Reinstall  Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable  manually after
removing AppScan Source.

Problem summary

* This issue is applicable only to Windows OS.                 *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
* When we install IBM Security AppScan Source product on a     *
* Windows machine we also install a Visual Studio              *
* redistributable component from Microsoft.   This is required *
* for proper functioning of many programs installed on Windows *
* OS.   We uninstall and remove this from the system when      *
* AppScan Source is uninstalled and that will leave other      *
* programs in the system that are dependent on this component  *
* as non-functional.                                           *

Problem conclusion

  • This fix will leave this component back on the system when IBM
Security AppScan Source product is uninstalled.   This fix is
included in our upcoming release, 9.0.3.
