Error description

  • PortletContainer: JSF managed beans used in DataTables loose
input values if bean validation fails.

Using a JSF Managed Bean with a list of objects. The list is
shown in a <h:datatable> element with <h:inputText> fields.
Additionally there are some other <inputText> fields on the
form. The input fields are mapped to a model object with bean
validation on some fields (e.g. @NotNull).

If the validation for these fields fail, the input in the
    datatable is lost.
This only occurs if the page is shown as a portlet. Using the
page as "normal" web page, everything works fine.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A JSF portlet's form inputs nested *
    * within a table lose their local *
    * values if validation fails. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Validation state of form inputs nested inside a table is lost
between the ACTION and RENDER phases of the Portal lifecycle.
This causes a JSF portlet's form inputs to revert back to
their original values after validation failure.

Problem conclusion

  • The JSF MyFaces 2.0 and JSF MyFaces 2.2 code was updated to
keep local values of form inputs nested inside a table if
validations fails. To enable this fix, set the following
    context parameter to true: com.ibm.ws.jsf.saveUIDataRowState
    (true / false-default)

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 8.0.0.13, 8.5.5.9 and 17.0.0.1. Please refer to
