APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • The FPA Unload function will add an option to issue an error
message and end job with a return code of 8 when some data can
not be written to the unloaded segment record files and to skip
compression routine processing for non-reorg mode.
The enhancements are being implemented as a result of RFE
    requirements 64471 and 70739.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR provides multiple new *
    * functionalities for Fast Path Advanced *
    * Tool (FPA). It also solves several *
    *                      internal defects.                       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
This APAR provides the following enhancements for FPA:
    1. The Unload function and the Change function support:
    (1) A new option to specify the severity level of the message
when a randomized database record is discarded due to a USR
    file not being specified.
    (2) A new option to skip segment edit/compression routine
    process for non-reorg mode.
This enhancements are being implemented as a result of RFE
    requirements 64471 and 70739.

    2. The Resync function supports:
    (1) A new option to process area scan mode for synchronizing
secondary index databases with their primary DEDB database.
    (2) A new option not to scan the DEDB areas when the Resync
function runs in verify update mode or direct update mode.
This enhancements are being implemented as a result of RFE
    requirements 65244 and 65343.

    3. The Analyze function supports:
    (1) Support to specify numeric variable of the HFPSnnnn and
HFPInnnn data sets as a task number.

This APAR also addresses the following internal defects:
    1. The Unload function with SORT=YES issued HFPT3308E and
abended with U3003 when return code being set to 8.
    2. The Unload function didn't check the COMPRTN keyword
parameters between IMSACB and NEWACB, and the Change function
didn't check the COMPRTN keyword parameters between OLDACB and
    IMSACB.

Comments

  • When DBREC_DISCARD_MSGLVLA=ERROR is specified, the Unload
function and the Change function issue an error message
HFPJ0009E and set a return code of 8 when a randomized database
record is discarded due to the corresponding USR file not being
    specified.

When EDITCOMP_SKIP=SKIP is specified, the Unload function and
the Change function don't call the segment edit/compression
routine if the COMPRTN keyword parameters are the same between
the ACB libraries for non-reorg mode.

When RESYNCMODE=AREASCAN is specified, the Resync function
scans the DEDB areas, generates index pointer segments based on
the source segments, and writes them to the Unverified Resync
    Pointer Segment record data sets.

When AREASCAN=NO is specified, the Resync function reads
the Unverified Resync Pointer Segment records, compares the
Unverified Resync Pointer Segments records with the secondary
index databases, and updates the index pointer segments in the
specified index segment database. Records in the Unverified
Resync Pointer Segment record data sets must be sorted before
they are used in verify update mode.

When HFPS0001 DD and HFPS0002 DD are specified in the JCL,
and ATASKCTL=2 is specified in the HFPSYSIN data set, the task
number 1 uses the HFPS0001 data set and the task number 2 uses
the HFPS0002 data set, regardless of the processed area number.

The Unload function has been modified to set a correct return
    code for DFSORT.

The Unload function and the Change function have been modified
to issue a HFPC0053E message when the edit/compression routine
name or the INIT parameter on the COMPRTN keyword in NEWACB or
OLDACB is different from that of IMSACB for the SDEP segment.
