PI44407: VARIOUS ABENDS / INCORRECT RESULTS WITH MALFORMED IMS PA COMMANDINPUT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If an expected continuation value ( comma ) is not found in the
  command imput, IMS PA creates a Null entry to cater for the
  missing data which in turn can cause various abends. Abends such
  ABEND0C1 with a branch to low core or an ABEND0C4 can be caused
  by the random storage overwrites.  ABENDS0C1 ABENDS0C4 S0C1 S0C4

Problem conclusion

• If, when performing syntax checking of the IMSPALOG Command
  Input, an expected continuation value is not found,
  IMS PA creates a Null entry to cater for the missing data.
  Lists are handled in a separate routine from the Command
  Input, and the list processor does not cater for the Null
  entry created by the syntax checker, resulting in random
  storage overwrites and various abends (S0C1, S0C4) or
  incorrect results. The list processor is updated to
  correctly identify, and skip, Null entries.
