APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If a third-party SIP endpoint responds to an INVITE with a 200
    response that has a malformed Contact header, WebSphere
    Application Server very  quietly drops the response. Only if
    you enable debug logging will you see:

    TransportCommLayerMgr got parse error(s) for response Bad
    Contact header

Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a SIP response failed due to a       *
    *                      parse error, the trace.log does not     *
    *                      show the reason.                        *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

    If a response has a malformed header, the SIP Container drops
    the response without printing the reason in the FINE level.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The SIP Container now prints the reason for the failure under
    FINE level tracing. In order to see the reason printed in the
    trace.log, please change the logging level to:
    "*=info:com.ibm.ws.sip.stack.transaction.transport.TransportComm
    LayerMgr=fine"
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.9.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
