Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the DB2 Administration Tool for * * z/OS who use the Migrate (MIG) function. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When using panel ADB28M 'Migrate * * Parameters', and selecting the * * 'UO - Customize utility options' * * option to customize the utility * * options, then on panel ADB2UOPS * * 'Change Utilities Options', * * selecting the 'U - Unload' option * * to modify the UNLOAD utility * * options, panel ADB2USU 'Specify * * Utility Options - UNLOAD' is * * displayed, but the SPANNED field * * is not available and editable. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When using the MIG function and changing utility options the SPANNED field on panel ADB2USU is not available and editable.
Problem conclusion
This APAR will enable the SPANNED field to be editable on utility panel ADB2USU when using the Migrate function. 1 - If SPANNED is set to YES on panel ADB2USU and 'Use Customized Utility Options' is set to YES on panel ADB28M, the statement --#ADMIN SPANNED YES will be generated as the first line before the UNLOAD statement and all the statements in the UNLOAD step are executed under the program ADBTEP2 'Batch Restart Program' in the migrate job. 2 - If SPANNED is set to YES on panel ADB2UPA 'Batch Job Utility Parameters ', the parameter SPANNED= 'YES' will be passed under DD ADBTEPIN and all the statements in the UNLOAD step are executed under the program ADBTEP2 'Batch Restart Program' in the migrate job. Please note that an UNLDDN template should be defined and specified during Migration if SPANNED is set to YES via panel ADB2USU or panel ADB2UPA, otherwise an error message ADB586E / msgadb586e will be issued on panel ADB28M: ADB586E An UNLDDN template is required when SPANNED=YES is set. Explanation: An UNLDDN template must be provided in order for DB2 to determine the space necessary and to create an unload file with the spanned attribute. System action: Processing stops. User response: On panel ADB28M, specify the TU option. On panel ADB25TU3 , specify UTILITY TEMPLATE Usage, and define a template for UNLDDN. Return to panel ADB28M to set the 'Generate template statements' field to YES, then press Enter. Alternatively, change the 'Spanned' field to NO.
