PI40573: IMS SERVICE UPDATES REQUIRE CHANGES TO THE IMS PA TRANSACTION INDEX AND FORM-BASED EXTRACT SET DEFAULT BEING IMPROVED

Error description

• Two issues addressed with this APAR:
  1. IMS service updates require changes to the IMS PA Transaction
     Index (CA01 record).
  2. Form-based extract set default DCB BLKSIZE = LRECL+4, this
     can be improved. By default, if no DCB is specified for a
     form-based extract data set, it is set as RECFM=VB,
     BLKSIZE=(LRECL+4). Now, if no DCB is specified the BLKSIZE
     will be set as either BLKSIZE=27998 or BLKSIZE=(LRECL+4),
     whichever is the greater.

  This APAR addresses the following issues:
  1.IMS service updates require changes to the IMS PA Transaction
    Index.
  2.By default, if no DCB is specified for a form-based extract
    data set, it is set as RECFM=VB,BLKSIZE=(LRECL+4).
    This might be inefficient for smaller values of LRECL.
  

Problem conclusion

• The following changes have been made for the above issues:
  1.The IMS PA Transaction Index record (CA01) is updated to have
    a new Version=IPI440. Support for Transaction Index records
    prior to Version=IPI440 is maintained.
  2.If no DCB is specified, the BLKSIZE will be set as either
    BLKSIZE=27998 or BLKSIZE=(LRECL+4), whichever is the greater.
