Error description

  • A fix for PI32586 was made that fixes certain class loaders from
    crashing the server when trying to load Websphere libraries on
    Tomcat. The fix used a much slower method of invoking these
    libraries, which can cause most of the request to be handled by
    a single thread.

    * USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
    * All users running the server on a production environment *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * In certain classloaders, such as those using Dynatrace, *
    * imported classes are resolved at launch instead of when *
    * used. The logic for Websphere Application Server?s multiple *
    * security domain API required classes not available on *
    * Tomcat. The original solution was to use Java reflection, *
    * but this caused a very significant performance degregation *
    * due to the reflection API?s large overhead. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * -                                                            *
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • The solution was to reverse the fix that initially required the
    use of Java reflection, and reference the entire class?s
    namespace during runtime instead of importing the class. No
    further action needs to be taken after installing the fix.

Temporary fix
