APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • In certain situations, when enabling and disabling lazy start,
    when re-enabling, APC doesn't correctly see this. There is a
    timing issue that causes it to think that min should be 0 and
    so it never meets the proper min instances.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A timing issue causes APC to see *
    * incorrect value of proactiveIdleStop *
    * property, resulting in violation of *
    *                      minimum instances                       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When switcing from lazy start with proactiveIdleStop property
    enabled to minimum number of instances and disabling
    proactiveIdleStop for a dynamic cluster, due to a timing
    issue, Application Placement Controller (APC) thinks the
    proactiveIdleStop property is enabled and overrides the
    minimum instances value by setting it to zero.

Problem conclusion

  • When proactiveIdleStop is triggered by process inactivity,
    changes were made to first check whether configuration was
    updated for minimum number of server instances value prior
    to allowing it to stop the server instance.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.6. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
