Error description

  • Installing BIRT application on WAS as part of the Report
Launcher setup produces a plugin configuration file that misses
the previously existing ClearCase related entries (ccrc/CTE)

Steps to reproduce or if has been reproduced on VM image, link
    to image

    1. Start with a CQ 8.0.1.x cqweb installation, including the
Report launcher component. Note that the file plugin.cfg.xml
includes the appropriate entries to access the cqweb
    application:

    ...jsessionid" Name="/cqweb/*"/>...

    2. Install the CCRC WAN Server component and its required
components (Local Views,...,). Note that now new plugin.cfg.xml
includes both the cqweb and CTE relevant entries (

    ...jsessionid" Name="/ccrc/*"/>...

    3. Now proceed to setup report launcher. As part of this setup
you need to install the BIRT web package on the cqweb profile as
    documented in:

    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/cqhelp/v8r0m0/topic/com.ibm.ra
    tional.clearquest.reporting.doc/topics/t_rpt_rl4birt_instal_on_W
    AS.htm

After completing this, the new plugin.cfg.xml includes
correctly the entry to route requests related to the BIRt
    application jsut installed:

    ...jsessionid" Name="/birt/*"/>...

but it misses the ccrc entry. To be able to restore normal
access to CTE, the adimistrator must manually edit the file in
order to set all the necessary entries.

The documentation should be updated explaining what additional
steps are needed if there also have other rational applications
(typically ccrc) hosted in other WAS profiles in the same
    server.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available in ClearQuest 8.0.0.17 and 8.0.1.10.
Technote #196891 has been created explaining the additional
steps needed after configuring BIRT runtime with ClearQuest
Report Launcher if there are other Rational applications hosted
    in other WAS profiles.
