Error description

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users of Functional Support Library V2.4 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CEX journal ABENDD37 and archive * * AbendS002 * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** This APAR addresses the following issues: 1.A D37 can occur on one or more of the CEX journals because the journal manager attempts to write to a track beyond the end of the journal. 2.IF statement in archive skeleton may result in a JCL error. 3.If a system is reset without giving the journal manager the chance to close the active journal a subsequent archive job may abend S002-18 when it tries to copy data from past the point in the journal dataset where the EOF marker should have been.
Problem conclusion
The following changes have been made for the above issues: 1. The journal manager has been changed to process the last track in a manner that offers more protection against the D37 abends and to provide additional diagnostic information if a D37 does occur. 2. Added support for IF/THEN/ELSE/ENDIF. 3. The archive manager has been changed to do record level validation, if a record fails validation the warning message: FUN2712W Journal dataset <journal-dsname> is corrupted is issued and the input journal is closed and marked as available for use by the journal manager. 4. The archive manager will check that journal datasets have been closed by the journal manager, if not the following message is issued: FUN2714W Journal dataset <journal-dsname> was not closed by the journal manager, potential record loss 5. The archive manager will intercept I/O errors when reading the journal dataset and issue the message: FUN2715E Journal dataset <journal-dsname> may be unusable. Error description: <error-description> 6. Below-the-line VSCR in some internal services related to VSAM I/O. 7. New services added, which will be required by IMS Configuration Manager 2.2.
