Error description

  • Enabling Websphere 8.x server for performance data collection
    services causes abort in the JVM
    
    Problem affects both 8.0 and 8.5.5 Websphere on IBM i.
    
    manageWASCollectionServices -profileName <profname> -server.name
    <serverName> -enable
    
    After server is started, eventually fails with
    joblog:

Local fix

  • Disable performance collection with
    manageWASCollectionServices -profileName <profname> -server.name
    <serverName> -disable
    

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED:  All users of IBM WebSphere Application      *
    *                  Server V8.0 and V8.5                        *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: On IBM i systems, the command           *
    *                      manageWASCollectionServices causes      *
    *                      the WebSphere Application Server to     *
    *                      abort.                                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:  Apply fix pack 8.0.0.11 or 8.5.5.6          *
    ****************************************************************
    The WebSphere Application Server starts then aborts when the
    manageWASCollectionServices command is issued. An MCH3601
    error appears in the WebSphere Application Server job log.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere Application Server is fixed to prevent an abort
    when the manageWASCollectionServices command is issued.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 8.0.0.11 and 8.5.5.6.  Please refer to the
