Error description
If semicolon is included at the end of the URI, WebSphere Application Server adds a slash at the end. The customer would like to delete semi-colon and slash from the response. For example: <Request of browser> http://xx.xx.xx.xx./test/; <Response of Application Server> http://xx.xx.xx.xx./test/;/

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server Full * * Profile versions 8.0 and 8.5.5, and * * Liberty Profile version 8.5.5 users of * * WebContainer. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If the inbound request URI ends with * * a semi-colon while redirecting to the * * welcome page, a trailing slash is * * added to the URI. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If a request to the context root followed by a slash and a semi-colon is made, and there is no matching servlet mapping, the server adds a trailing slash to the inbound URI when redirecting to the welcome page. This might cause problems with relative links on the welcome page as every link will generate a request containing the semi-colon in the URI. For example: An inbound request http://host/contextRoot/; will be redirected to the welcome page and the URL will be set as http://host/contextRoot/;/.
Problem conclusion
The WebContainer code was modified to ignore the semicolon and everything after it when redirecting to the welcome page when a new WebContainer custom property is set. A new WebContainer custom property needs to be set to enable this behavior: Name: com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.ignoreSemiColonOnRedirectToWelcomePage Values: true / false (default) Please refer to the following technote for instructions on enabling WebContainer custom properties: Full profile: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rss=180&uid=swg21284395 Liberty profile: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21597753 The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.11 and 8.5.5.6.
