Error description

  • WebSphere MQ may suffer with ABEND0C4 in CSQ3RRSM or CSQAPRHX
    .
    Level 3 finds that MQ's exit ( CSQ3RRSX ) should be issuing a
    CTXSCID to set the context interest data to 0 (the context end-
    context).

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: During an abend of an application using *
    *                      RRS (such as using WebSphere            *
    *                      Application Server) the subsequent EOT  *
    *                      processing for any units of work may    *
    *                      result in 0C4 abends in CSQ3RRSM,       *
    *                      CSQAPRHX, CSQ3EOM0, CSQ3RRSX or         *
    *                      CSQMCPRH; as well as 30D or             *
    *                      5C6-00E50079 abend issued within        *
    *                      CSQVSRX, depending on the exact         *
    *                      sequence of events and timing windows.  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When an application that does in-syncpoint MQ work abends, RRS
    EOT processing invokes CSQ3RRSX to perform end-context. The
    associated ACE in this scenario is released by CSQ3RRSX without
    clearing the context interest data. Where further processing for
    the abend may occur, such as by WebSphere Applications Server's
    resource manager, CSQ3RRSX may be invoked again for the same
    context. However, as the context interest data was not cleared
    CSQ3RRSX may release the ACE again. This can result in the 0C4
    abends seen, as well as the 5C6-00E50079 or 30D abend in
    CSQVSRX, as the processing in MQ will attempt to access the
    previously released ACE. The queue manager may then terminate
    abnormally, as indicated by CSQV086E with reason codes 00E50710
    or 00F30411 for example.
    

Problem conclusion

  • End context processing in CSQ3RRSX has been altered to clear
    the context interest data in this scenario when the ACE is
    released, to prevent errors and abends due to later processing.
