Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IMS Library Integrity Utilities for z/OS, * * Version 2 Release 2 (FMID=H27P220) users * * who use the Advanced ACBGEN utility with * * ACBCATWK DD specified or Catalog Manager * * utility. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The time stamp that is used by IMS * * Catalog Populate utility (DFS3PU00) * * for a PSB that has a mixture of GSAM * * and Full Function databases is * * incorrect when IMS Catalog Populate * * utility uses the ACBCATWK data set * * which was generated by Advanced ACBGEN * * utility. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Advanced ACBGEN utility with IMS V12 or later is fixed to resolve the same problem reported by IMS V13 APAR PI27237. The specification of ACBCATWK data set was changed by IMS APAR PI27237. The new specification solves the problem that the time stamp is incorrect when IMS Catalog Populate utility (DFS3PU00) uses the ACBCATWK data set to populate an IMS catalog. The problem occurs only for PSB that has a mixture of GSAM and Full Function databases. Advanced ACBGEN utility provides ACBCATWK data set with the new specification for the IMS version 12 or later. The time stamp stored in ACBCATWK data set includes the year, day and the time of the day instead of only the time of the day. The restriction of Catalog Manager utility is changed for the fix and the documentation is updated.
Problem conclusion
The following module has been changed to fix the above problem: - FABQMAIN ======================== = DOCUMENTATION CHANGE = ======================== The documentation " IMS Library Integrity Utilities for z/OS, V2R2, User's Guide (SC19-3979-01)" is changed as follows. ================================================================ Chapter 9. Catalog Manager utility Catalog Manager utility restrictions : - The Catalog Manager utility checks only DBDs and PSBs that are found in the ACB libraries. DBDs and PSBs that are found in the IMS catalog but not in the ACB libraries are not checked or included in the IMS Catalog Validation report. |- Depending on the maintenance level of IMS, the Catalog | Manager utility cannot validate PSBs that contain PCBs | referring to a GSAM or a logical database. This is because no | time stamp information is stored for such PSBs in the IMS | catalog. To validate such PSBs generated by IMS Version 13, | you must apply APAR PI27237 to IMS.
