APAR status

Error description

• In Rational Developer for System z - RDz - v9.0.1, editing
  a COBOL program containing VARBINARY SQL type results in
  real-time syntax check error: "BLOB expected instead of this
  input"
  
  Steps to reproduce:
  
  - edit a COBOL program in LPEX or COBOL editor with a
  working storage section like for example:
  
         working-storage section.
         01  REC1.
             05 COL1  usage sql type is varbinary(32000).
  

Local fix

• There is no known workaround at this time.
  

Problem summary

• In Rational Developer for System z - RDz - v9.0.1, editing
  a COBOL program containing VARBINARY SQL type results in
  real-time syntax check error: "BLOB expected instead of this
  input"
  

Problem conclusion

• Updated the COBOL parser for SQL types introduced in recent
  versions of DB/2.
  
  The problem listed in this APAR has been resolved with
  IBM Rational Developer for System z V9.0.1.4 Fix Pack which
  is available from the Recommended Fixes support download page:
