Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
    * Optim for z/OS users editing or browsing DBCS DB2 data *
    * stored in Unicode encoded tables. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * Customers performing EDIT or BROWSE of DB2 data from tables *
    * having data stored with Unicode encoding may encounter data *
    * truncation when DB2 translates character column data from *
    * Unicode to the CCSID of the Optim plan. This scenario may *
    * occur only when processing DBCS data. Optim would ignore the *
    * data truncation error and not alert the user of this *
    * condition.                                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Apply the provided fix. *
    ****************************************************************
    Optim for z/OS is not detecting and reporting data truncation
    resulting from translation of double-byte data from a Unicode
    code page to a code page associated with the CCSID of the Optim
    plan.

Problem conclusion

  • Optim for z/OS processing will be changed to detect data
    truncation resulting from translation from a Unicode code page
    to a code page associated with the CCSID of the Optim plan while
    executing the Edit and Browse functions.
    A status flag of T will be shown on the ISPF panels for a row
    whose data has been truncated. Additional diagnostic information
    will be available with the HELP function.
