Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere MQ for z/OS Version 7 * * Release 1 Modification 0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend 0C4 occurs in CSQMLPLM.CSQMPOM * * when event messages are written to a * * shared event queue, or trigger messages * * are written to a shared initiation * * queue. * * In some trigger related cases, the * * abend does not occur, however * * unexpected trigger messages are * * generated. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When putting internally generated messages to a shared queue (for example, when putting trigger messages or event messages), CSQMPOM is called against a queue that has not been opened. In these situations, CSQMPOM should automatically open the shared queue in order to do the put operation, however prior to doing this, it attempts to access the STRB for the structure hosting the queue using the queue's sqtoken. If the queue has not been used in the last 10 minutes, it is possible that the sqtoken for the queue has not been set, resulting in an attempt to access an invalid address and the reported abend 0C4. For TRIGTYPE(EVERY) trigger messages, it is possible that CSQMPOM is being called to generate a trigger message despite the initiation queue not being open. In this case, the reported abend will occur if the sqtoken has not been set, however if the sqtoken is set, unexpected additional trigger messages will be generated.
Problem conclusion
CSQMPOM is changed to open the shared queue if required, ensuring that the sqtoken has been set, prior to locating the STRB. CSQMREF2 is changed to check whether the initiation queue is open under latch control, preventing the unexpected trigger messages being generated. 100Y CSQMPOM CSQMREF2
