PI28815: U3000/SA03 ABEND RUNNING OPTIMZ IN BATCH

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Optim/z batch terminates with a U3000 abend followed by a SA03.
  

Local fix

• Increase CPU limit for job step.
  

Problem summary

  When the job exceeds the zOS CPU limit without POSIX ON it will
  terminate with a S322 abend.  When POSIX is ON, a SIGXCPU signal
  is raised instead.  If the program does not handle this signal
  LE will terminate with U3000.  This does not make the problem
  clear to the user.
  

Problem conclusion

• Optimz now handles this signal and issues a system error report
  "Execution terminated by system due to CPU usage limit".
