Error description
During WebSphere Application Server z/OS startup, if there are MQ events being driven prior to full server initialization that use the SIB (Software Integration Bus) component the connection to the SIB may fail. One of the typical errors see in FFDC Logs is: FFDC Exception:com.ibm.ws.sib.jfapchannel.JFapConnectFailedException SourceId:com.ibm.ws.wmqra.jfap.WMQRAJFAPCommunicator.alarm ProbeId:10 com.ibm.ws.sib.jfapchannel.JFapConnectFailedException: CWSIJ0080E: A cross-memory connection to the control region adjunct process cannot be established. at com.ibm.ws.sib.jfapchannel.impl.octracker. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.5 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Defer activation of JMS/MDB activation * * specification activation until the * * synchronized server startup on z/OS * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The activation specifications gets activated when Individual Servant Region Address Spaces are started. However on z/OS it may be desired in some situations to prevent the activation specifications from getting activated until the entire synchronized server startup is completed. This apar provides a Java virtual machine (JVM) property to ensure that the activation specs are activated only after the synchronized server startup is completed. The apar is enabled with a JVM System property to be set under Application servers > server1 > Process definition > Servant > Java Virtual Machine > Custom properties Name : com.ibm.ejs.j2c.J2CServerListener.activateEndpointsOnCRAStarted Value : true
Problem conclusion
The WebSphere J2C component now provides a JVM System property to allow defering the activation specification end point activation untill the synchronized server startup is completed APAR PI28099 is currently targeted for inclusion Fix Pack 8.5.5.6 of WebSphere Application Server.
