Error description

  • When an address space goes through end of memory without having
    gone through end of task, there is a timing window where RRS
    resync processing could dead-lock with the end of memory
    process.
    RRS resync processing hangs.
    
    An IEAVTMTR TCB hangs in the master address space in CSQMCLMT,
    waiting for EBACTL to be turned back on and going into regular
    sleeps.
    CSQ3RRSR is processing a context relating to this EB, and is
    suspended, waiting for the MCLB latch to be released (currently
    held by CSQMCLMT).
    

Local fix

  • Cancel and restart the queue manager.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The connected WAS address space has experienced abends, and has
    then been MEMTERM'ed with S40D. During MEMTERM processing, RRS
    contexts are being cleaned up.
    The EB that is being processed has EBACTL set off, indicating
    that it is in MQ code. CSQMCLMT therefore waits for EBACTL to be
    set back on.
    However, EBACTL will never get set back on as the address space
    that it was running under has been MEMTERM'ed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The code was changed to not wait for EBACTL to be turned back on
    if the connected WAS address space has been MEMTERM'ed,
    preventing the hang from occurring.
