Error description

  • After installing the fix for APAR PI22714, if the FIPS optional
    feature is included in an iOS project, Xcode will display errors
    similar to
    Undefined symbols for architecture armv7:
       "_AFNetworkingErrorDomain", referenced from:
          -[VPN FPISCertErrorCallback:] in libfipshttp.a(VPN.o)
    
    Other undefined symbols may include:
    _OBJC_METACLASS_$_AFHTTPRequestOperation
    _OBJC_CLASS_$_AFHTTPRequestOperation

Problem summary

    * 140-2 Optional Feature for an iOS Environment that have also *
    * applied APAR PI22714 to their Worklight client enviroment.   *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * If the FIPS 140-2 Optional Feature is enabled for an iOS     *
    * Environment and APAR PI22714 has been applied to the         *
    * Worklight Studio development environment, the the iOS        *
    * environment (iPhone or iPad) will fail building within Xcode *
    * due to undefined symbols.  The error messages from Xcode     *
    * will look something like the following:                      *
    *                                                              *
    * Undefined symbols for architecture armv7:                    *
    * "_AFNetworkingErrorDomain", referenced from:                 *
    *     -[VPN FIPSCertErrorCallback:] in libfipshttp.a(VPN.o)    *
    *                                                              *
    * ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture armv7               *
    * clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v *
    * to see invocation)                                           *

    * Note that there may be other symbols listed such as          *

Problem conclusion

  • Some symbol definitions were changed as part of the fix for APAR
    PI22714.  The symbols referenced from within the FIPS 140-2
    Optional Feature library (libfipshttp.a) have been updated to
    reference the symbols as defined in the fix for APAR PI22714.
