Error description

  • Error 'Connection reset by remote host' encountered when using
    the HTTP Adapter.

Local fix

  • WTXCQ - WTX00045234
    GK / GK
    Circumvention: None

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
WebSphere Transformation Extender HTTP adapter users that
communicate with HTTP Servers that have a keep alive
connectivity setting which is lower than the time it takes to
    complete a map run.

    Problem Description:
WTX HTTP connections are being re-used within an existing map
run after the Server's keep alive setting has expired.

    Platforms Affected:
    Windows

Problem conclusion

  • Problem Conclusion:
"-keepalive" connection option has been added to the HTTP
adapter. This setting prevents the HTTP adapter from re-using a
connection after a specified amount of seconds has expired.
The primary benefit of this capability is that it applies to
connections established and re-used during an "active" map run.
The "keepalive" setting also applies to "idle" or "inactive"
connections, but the "IdleHTTP" option already performs this
same task for "idle" or "inactive" connections.

The "-keepalive" connection setting will NOT be shared with an
adapter that has a different keepalive setting value or that has
no keepalive setting defined. Basically, a keepalive connection
can be re-used with an adapter command line that includes the
same setting and value (not to mention the same host and port
    settings).

This connection comparison logic will enable different types of
connections to the same host to be grouped together during
re-use. It will also prevent re-use of connections that behave
    with different keep alive settings.

In effect, the "keepalive" setting gives a great degree of
customized connection sharing capabilities at map run time,
which in turn will provide the best level of compatibility with
    HTTP Server connection settings.

    Applies to:
    8.3.0.6, 8.4.0.5, 8.4.1.2

Fixed in the next service packs and releases.
