APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The problem is that in Worklight cluster , each node points to a
    shared location database.
    Each (delete device) action in the Worklight console is
    propagated to every node in the cluster simultaneously.
    The first node to delete the device will actually manage to
    access and lock the relevant row in the database and delete it.
    However, the slower nodes also tries to access the device
    database and will not find that database row anymore (was
    removed already) , thus fire an error or locking error (depends
    how fast it was).

Local fix

  • Device deletion was successful on one node but failed on others.
    The user can ignore the error since eventually the device was
    deleted from the central database.
    To see that , after the error, refresh the Worklight Console
    (F5).
    We mostly dealing here with false error message.
    Another option (not recommended) is to restart that node (will
    force a re-sync with the central Worklight database)

    * USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
    * Worklight server administrators who manage Worklight cluster *
    * or farm.                                                     *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * When administrator enters Worlight Console in a clustered *
    * environment and switches to Devices tab, some of the action *
    * may return error message (action failed). *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * The administrator can ignore the error and refresh the page. *
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • The problem is that only one node succeeded in performing the
    action (and write to the database) while the other nodes in the
    cluster failed.
    An error is presented due to the other nodes failure.

Temporary fix

  • The administrator can ignore the error as this is a false
    negative situation. The relevant database was updated regardless
    of the error.
