    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
If 'Computed' is specified for 'IDENTITY START value' field, the
computed value will be based upon the existing identity column
attributes at the time the DDL is produced, such as MAXASSIGNED
and the current cache size. Any changes made after the creation
of the DDL, to either the identity values or to the data, are
not reflected in the DDL, and as a result, the DDL is obsolete.
The product will not locate an unassigned value from the
existing data, and ultimately a new RESTART value might need
to be provided based upon the underlying data and the
application needs. So, if the computed value for the identity
column was different from its real value, the verification step
will fail with the error message ADBC099E /msgadbc099e as
expected. The user should provide the correct start value of
the identity column to avoid the failure .

Problem conclusion

  • The description of 'IDENTITY START value' field on help panel
GOC5H 'HELP: Generate Compare Job' has been improved. A note
was added to explain the computed value:

    Note:
If Computed is specified, the computed value will be based
upon the existing identity column attributes at the time the
DDL is produced, such as MAXASSIGNED and the current cache size.
Any changes made after the creation of the DDL, to either the
identity values or to the data, are not reflected in the DDL
and, make the DDL obsolete. The product will not locate an
unassigned value from the existing data, and ultimately a
new RESTART value might need to be provided based upon the
underlying data and the application needs.
