PI20028: ENCOUNTERING "DISK READ ERROR" WHEN RUNNING A LARGE DATA FILE

Error description

• A "Disk Read Error" is encountered when running a large data
  file through a WTX map.
  
  The CompoundSystem log shows as below:
  
  DTXLN4136E - Thu Jun 12 16:45:05 2014 - tid:  9412 inst:    1 -
  I/O ERROR : FUNC:ReleaseDIsAfter DISK READ ERROR Asked:293408
  Got:0 bytes (v_system.c:1542)
  
  The issue occurs both from Command Server as well as the 64 bit
  Launcher.

Problem summary

• Users Affected:
  WebSphere Transformation Extender users who get "Disk Read
  Error" when running a map that process very large data
  
  Problem Description:
  Integer overflow when calling a seek function to position file
  pointer results with invalid read operation. The map fails with
  "Disk Read Error"
  
  Platforms Affected:
  All
  

Problem conclusion

• We were doing seeks into the file as we wrote it using a DWORD
  to hold the offset.  We need to use a QWORD.
  
  Applies to:
  8.3.0.6, 8.4.0.4, 8.4.1.2
  
  Fixed in the next service packs and releases.
