• The problem is that the add-in is signed with an SHA2 certificat
  e that has to be supported by Excel. In Excel 2010, Microsoft so
  lved the problem in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2598139 , bu
  t it seems that they've never fixed it in Excel 2007.
  
  There is not to much documentation about this situation, but I c
  ould find here that:
  
  Starting with Windows Vista and Server 2008, the Cryptography Ne
  xt Generation (CNG) Suite B algorithms (including SHA2) are incl
  uded in the operating system. It is worth noting that even thoug
  h the algorithms are available, it is up to the individual appli
  cations to implement support.
  
  I have looked for Excel 2007 life cycle (http://support.microsof
  t.com/lifecycle/default.aspx?LN=en-us&x=10&y=22&p1=8753) and it
  seems that mainstream support ended in 2012, and extended suppor
  t is until 2017 and until then Microsoft continues to provide se
  curity patches but offers other fixes only to organizations that
   have signed support contracts with the company.
