You receive the following error messages in the logs: java.io.IOException: EDC5124I Too many open files. Depending on what IBM BPM was trying to do at the time, various other error messages might occur, related to files not being able to open due to too many open files in the JVM. Monitor number of files descriptors for bpm.lock file - when number gets close to limit value, restart server.
File handle is not closed out appropriately on some cluster members, resulting in an "EDC5124I Too many open files" error message.
A fix for IBM BPM V188.8.131.52 is available that fixes the error by properly closing out the file handle when appropriate. On Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral), search for PI18805: 1. Select IBM Business Process Manager with your edition from the product selector, the installed version to the fix pack level, and your platform, and then click Continue. 2. Select APAR or SPR, enter PI18805, and click Continue. When you download fix packages, ensure that you also download the readme file for each fix. Review each readme file for additional installation instructions and information about the fix.
