Error description
SIP transaction is not being destroyed when application is un-deployed in case of Timer .
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: SIP transaction is not being removed * * from memory when the application is * * undeployed. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If the application uses a ProxyTimer, the SIP transaction is not being cleaned from memory after application was undeployed.
Problem conclusion
This fix prevents a leak of SIP transaction after application is undeployed. The leak occurs because the java Timer object holds a reference to a SIP TimerTask instance even though the TimerTask was already canceled. The fix nullifies the TimerTask when it is being canceled and prevents it from staying in the memory along with all it's references including SIP transaction objects. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.4.
