APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • JNI memory leak occurs when handling error conditions in JMS
adapter and SAP JALE adapter listeners.

Local fix

  • WTXCQ - WTX00044851
    PB / PB
    Circumvention: None

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
WebSphere Transformation Extender customers who use Java based
listeners, such as JALE and JMS, that encounter connectivity
errors on the server which is being watched

    Problem Description:
A Java memory leak exists when the JALE adapter listener is
running while the SAP gateway is down.

    Platforms Affected:
    All

Problem conclusion

  • Whenever re-connecting on the same Connection object, the old
connection is properly deleted. Before this fix, a failed
listen operation would lead to a JVM memory leak since it would
trigger a continuous number of reconnect operations. Each
reconnect never freed a global JNI reference to the old
connection, which in turn would lead to a memory leak in the
    JVM.
