PI16377: ABEND0C4 RC00000038 IN DSNLXREL+0330 DUE TO OVERLAY IN EDMPOOL, AND DB2 TERMINATES WITH RC00D94001 14/04/25 PTF PECHANGE

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• ABND=0C4-00000038 in DSNLXGLM.DSNLXREL+0330 and DB2 got abnormal
  termination with 00D94001.
  
  After APAR PM94696, there may be a potential serialization
  issue when RDS sections are allocated in EDM pool, this creates
  a small time window that different threads may obtain the same
  block and causes overlay problem.

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  After applying PTF UK98135/UK98136 (PM94696), with plan
  authorization cache, there could be a small timing window
  where the same SKCT pool storage could be allocated to two
  different internal control block. When this happens, the above
  abend could be received.
  
  The plan authorization cache can be disabled with
  BIND option CACHESIZE(0).
  

Problem conclusion

• DB2 code has been changed to fix the above timing window.
