Error description

  • A delete of a shared INITQ ends with the following messages
    although the queue is not in use:
    DELETE QLOCAL('XXX') QSGDISP(SHARED)
    CSQN205I COUNT= 5, RETURN=0000000C, REASON=00000008
    CSQM101I CSQMUQLC QLOCAL(XXX) IS CURRENTLY in USE
    CSQM090E CSQMUQLC FAILURE REASON CODE X'00D44005'
    CSQ9023E CSQMUQLC ' DELETE QLOCAL' ABNORMAL COMPLETION

    During the DELETE, CSQIDDEL tries to get a lock on the queue.
    CSQMREF2 has been invoked for the creation of the queue
    and has detected that the queue is an initq. It is therefore
    going through all defined queues, looking for those which are
    using the initq, and does this while holding a lock on the queue
    which is the reason for the DELETE failing.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A delete of a shared queue fails with *
    *                      CSQM101I CSQMUQLC QLOCAL(XXX) IS        *
    * CURRENTLY IN USE if the queue being *
    * deleted has never been used. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A shared queue is defined for the first time and never used.
    When an attempt is made to delete it, this fails with
    CSQN205I COUNT= 5, RETURN=0000000C, REASON=00000008
    CSQM101I CSQMUQLC QLOCAL(XXX) IS CURRENTLY in USE
    CSQM090E CSQMUQLC FAILURE REASON CODE X'00D44005'
    CSQ9023E CSQMUQLC ' DELETE QLOCAL' ABNORMAL COMPLETION
    .
    During the delete processing CSQMREF2 has been invoked to
    refresh the local copy of the shared queue and requires a
    lock to do this.
    When CSQIDDEL attempts to delete the queue it cannot get the
    lock and fails with the above messages.
    CSQMREF2 will get the lock for all shared queues, but the delay
    before releasing the lock is more likely to occur for
    initiation queues (initqs).

Problem conclusion

  • CSQMUQLC has been altered to retry qetting the lock on a shared
    queue five times before reporting the error, to allow CSQMREF2
    time to finish processing.
