Error description

  • ABENDS0C4 in IPIGGET or loop IPIGGET and IPI4QMGR.
In processing transactions in a program-switch chain, when IMS
PA determines that the chain count in the input message
(MSGPREFI) has wrapped from 65535 to 0 it flushes the existing
transaction records to the report processors and re-establishes
the head of the chain at the Zero input message. In the case
where a transaction meeting the criteria is not a
program-switch, attempting to flush the expected resulting chain
of transactions may produce variable results in subsequent
transactions from the same source, including an S0C4 (where
transaction storage has been freed) and a program looping
(where transaction chain pointers have become corrupted).

Problem conclusion

  • Do not flush program-switch chains that have been assumed to
have wrapped, rather let HWM processing deal with excessive
    queues.
