Error description

  • An ORA-1400 error is generated when trying to insert data into a
    Oracle database table when using a custom partitioned type tree.
    
    The error message is:
    
    <14296-10988-02/28/14 11:18:47>:    Error in SQLExecute
    Message: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into
    ("DBNAME"."TABLENAME"."FIELDNAME")

Problem summary

  • Users Affected:
    WebSphere Transformation Extender DB Adapter users that are
    employing custom type trees that define different row type
    definitions under a partitioned type.
    
    Problem Description:
    The WTX DB adapter could not properly handle input type trees
    that included a partitioned type.
    
    Platforms Affected:
    Win32
    

Problem conclusion

  • During the compilation of a partitioned input type tree, the
    metadata for the infix delimiter is retrieved from the first
    sub-component of the partitioned type.  Before this fix, the
    row's infix delimiter was never initialized because it was
    pointing to a partitioned type that does no define an infix
    delimiter.
    
    Applies to:
    8.3.0.6, 8.4.0.4, 8.4.1.1
    
    Fixed in the next service packs and releases.
