PI14530: SYSTEM BELOW THE LINE STORAGE ABENDS 878-10

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After adding more INCLUDES in the BEGINVTAM portion of the
  TELNET profile all storage below the line became allocated
  resulting in a system abends878-10. The INCLUDE accesses a
  dataset which requires a DCB that needs to be in below the
  line storage. However the storage is being allocated on a
  page boundary for every include. This causes a new page to
  be allocated for every INCLUDE. The page boundary
  requirement needs to be removed so that the INCLUDES can
  allocate many DCBs on a single page.

• Reduce the amount if includes.

  The problem may be summarized as follows:
  1. Telnet is processing the profile.
  2. An INCLUDE statement is processed.
  3. Telnet obtains below the line storage for the DCB
  for the dataset on a page boundary.
  4. If enough INCLUDE statements are specified in the
  same Telnet statement, Telnet could run out of
  below the line storage, causing an 878 abend.
