Error description

• After applying an iFix, the productInfo validate script reports
  errors like the following:
  
  Validating feature: com.ibm.websphere.appserver.kernel-1.0...
  FAIL!
    [ERROR] Content: lib/com.ibm.ws.kernel.boot_1.0.4.jar is
  either changed or broken.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  After installation of an interim fix which replaces an
  existing file, rather than laying down a newly named file, the
  productInfo validate command will report
  the following type of error:
  Validating feature: com.ibm.websphere.appserver.kernel-1.0...
  FAIL!
  [ERROR] Content: lib/com.ibm.ws.kernel.boot_1.0.4.jar is
  either changed or broken.
  

Problem conclusion

• The product files were originally just checked against their
  original checksums at the respective fix pack levels.  The
  command now also looks at the checksum metadata delivered with
  the interim fix to determine if the file is corrupt.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.5.5.3. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page
