APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When creating the JCL for the Optim DB2 LOAD and requesting that
a "FULL IMAGE COPY" be performed during the LOAD process the
user may encounter JCL errors caused by SPACE values being
negative or exceeding disk capacity. This error may occur when
processing very large target DB2 TABLE SPACES.

Local fix

  • The generated JCL can be adjusted manually to provide valid
SPACE allocation values, or the data sets can be pre-allocated
    outside of the Optim processing.

    ****************************************************************
Optim is not considering the maximum disk capacity when
allocating various data sets required for DB2 LOAD processing.
This may lead to values which exceed disk capacity. In addition,
certain size computations may overflow resulting in negative
    values being generated.

Problem conclusion

  • Optim/z code will be changed to correct the above problems.
Note that Optim will assume the standard model 3390 disk
capacity of 65535 tracks, or smaller if such value has been
provided in Optim User Unit Options. For larger 3390 disks, or
when allocating work data sets of type PS LARGE, as opposed to
PS BASIC, the user may need manually adjust the allocation size
or number of volumes required for successful allocation.
