Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All DB2 10 for z/OS and DB2 11 for z/OS * * users of the LOAD utility * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: New function to enable LOAD BACKOUT * * option to tell LOAD to backout all * * loaded records if any record fails to * * load. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The new LOAD option, BACKOUT YES, indicates to LOAD that all records will be backed out if any record fails to load.
Problem conclusion
The LOAD section of the Utility Guide and Reference will be updated to describe the BACKOUT option. (BACKOUT can only be specified for table space directed LOAD and not for partition-level load.) (Top-level resume-spec, BACKOUT is not allowed on the INTO TABLE clause) resume-spec: (1) .-RESUME--NO-----. .-SHRLEVEL--NONE-. >>-+-+----------------+--+----------------+--+---------+------ | '-REPLACE-' | .-BACKOUT--NO------. .-SHRLEVEL--NONE---. '-RESUME--YES--+------------------+--+------------------+-- | .-YES-. | '-SHRLEVEL--CHANGE-' '-BACKOUT--+-----+-' BACKOUT YES Specifies that all rows loaded by the current LOAD should be deleted if any input record has violations. The table space is available at the completion of the LOAD. This option does not perform discard processing If BACKOUT is specified alone, the default is YES. BACKOUT is only allowed with SHRLEVEL NONE. BACKOUT is not allowed with INCURSOR. Keywords associated with discard processing (i.e. DISCARDDN and DISCARDS) are allowed with BACKOUT YES, but no discard processing occurs. NO Specifies that updates made by LOAD will not be rolled back if an error record is found. This is the default behavior. A new message will be issued when a backout occurs. DSNU1260I csect-name - THE INPUT DATA SET CONTAINS RECORDS WITH VIOLATIONS - BACKOUT PROCESSING BACKED OUT n RECORDS. Explanation BACKOUT YES was specified and an input record contained violations (because of unique index errors, referential or check constraint violations, or index evaluation errors). Violations can be detected during RELOAD, INDEXVAL, and ENFORCE phases. csect-name The name of the control section that issued the message. n The number of records backed out. System action Load processing ends. All loaded records will be backed out. User response Modify the records in the input data set to correct the violations. Severity 8 (error)
