PI06842: PDF LESS THAN 300KB CANNOT BE VIEWED WITH BROWSER PDF VIEWER

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Using the browser PDF viewer (Adobe plugin or browser built
  in), PDFs will sometimes download partially, or end up with a
  corrupted file. This can affect firefox, chrome and IE
  browsers.
  

Local fix

• If the user right clicks and does save as, then the document
  downloads fine.

  in), PDFs will sometimes download partially, or end up with a
  corrupted file. This can affect firefox, chrome and IE
  browsers.
  

Problem conclusion

• Cause
  For files under 300 KB, WCM reports the incorrect Range header
  e.g. Range: bytes 123-456/0 instead of Range: bytes 123-
  456/1234 which causes the browser to download the document
  incorrectly. This is due to WCM attempting to cache the
  partial content request (HTTP 206).
  
  Fix
  Disable caching of partial content requests in
  ResourceServerModule
  
  Note
  This is combination fix and requires PI06210 and PM84956 to
  fix issues regarding to pdf and file resources.
