PI04983: IMS INSERT FAILS USING CONVERTED EXTRACT FILE STATUS CODE II

Error description

• 1) Insert processing has increased elapsed time.
  2) Segments that are children of non-unique parents are inserted
  under incorrect parents.
  3) Optim/z insert processing has 'Failed Rows' errors due to DLI
  insert failures (status code II).
  

Local fix

• Do not CONVERT an extract file multiple times.

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  Optim/z implements special processing when converting an extract
  file containing IMS tables to retain the hierarchical order of
  the segments.  When converting a converted extract file this
  special processing is not being performed and the IMS tables are
  processed table-at-a-time rather than database-at-a-time.  As a
  result the INSERT process is table-at-a-time.  This has
  performance implications and causes segments that are children
  of non-unique parents to be inserted under incorrect parents.
  

Problem conclusion

• Program logic has been modified to convert IMS data in converted
  extract files database-at-a-time.
