Error description

  • The following error message was received running a DFR job:
    DFR3503E (024) AREA=areaname DD=ddname, WRITE ERROR,
      CI-NO=nnnnnnnn - ADS STOPPED

    The error occured when DFR set the dummy default segments for
    the pre-allocation CI's. When interpreting the last CI, there
    was a logic error in the code. This error caused DFR
    to incorrectly set the dummy default segment to the CI
    that is out of the AREA. An I/O error occurs while writing
    the CI and DFR issued the error message and canceled the
    recovery of the AREA.

    This is for IMS V13. For IMS V11 and V12 see APAR PI06810.

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS DEDB FAST RECOVERY Version 2 *
    *                 Release 2 (FMID=H1J2220) users who use the   *
    * DEDB SDEP segment in IMS V13. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If new pre-allocation CI of SDEP wraps *
    * an area end before IMS failure, DFR *
    *                      issues a MSGDFR3503E message by an I/O  *
    * error of the CI and cancels the *
    * recovery of the AREA. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR. *
    ****************************************************************
    When DFR sets the dummy default segments for the pre-allocation
    CIs, DFR uses a HI-A-RBA instead of a start RBA of the last CI,
    in order to interpret the last CI.
    Therefore DFR incorrectly sets the dummy default segment to the
    CI that is out of the area.

Problem conclusion

  • The following module has been modified.
    *
    DFRL595D - This module was changed so that it may wrap an area
               end when an start RBA of a next CI is the same as a
               value of a DMACBRBA field.
