Error description

  • In an environment where the CICS and ODBA applications pause
feature of IMS Tools Common Pauser is used to pause CICS and
ODBA application processing, the applications are not paused
when the invoking product issues a /DBR AREA command instead of
    a /DBR DB command.

Consequently, CICS and ODBA applications continue to run and may
receive DL/I status codes, such as FH, for requests against the
affected DEDB area. The FH status code indicates that a DEDB
area was inaccessible to the requested service.

    ****************************************************************
The CICS and ODBA applications pause feature of IMS Tools
Common Pauser suspends PSB scheduling (allocation) requests
while a pause condition is in effect.

Before this APAR, the function detected a pause condition only
when a /DBR DB command had been issued for the target database.
When the target resource was a DEDB area, IMS Tools Common
Pauser did not detect a /DBR AREA condition. Consequently, the
pause function was not activated for DEDB areas that were
stopped by using the /DBR AREA command.

This APAR adds detection of /DBR AREA conditions for DEDB
areas, enabling the CICS and ODBA applications pause feature
to function correctly when a /DBR AREA command is used.
