  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Intermittently, CICS incorrectly catalogues a JVMSERVER during
shutdown. As a result, a subsequent CICS region which was
brought up as a warm/auto start will install the JVMSERVER as
disabled even if the JVMSERVER in the previous CICS region
instance was enabled at the point of shutdown.

Since the JVMSERVER is installed as disabled, no DFHSJ9015
message occurs and no error occurs. Enabling the JVMSERVER
which was installed as disabled works successfully.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS occasionally may catalogue an *
    * enabled JVMSERVER as disabled during *
    *                      CICS shutdown.                          *
    ****************************************************************
In rare cases during a CICS region shutdown with an enabled
JVMSERVER, a timing window may be hit where the JVMSERVER
completes its shutdown and is then issued with a further call to
terminate which catalogues the JVMSERVER state. Since this
occurred after the JVMSERVER has already disabled successfully
as part of CICS shutdown, the state is incorrectly stored in the
    catalogue as DISABLED.

A subsequent warm/auto start of the CICS region will
then install the JVMSERVER as disabled, not honouring the
correct enabled state of the JVMSERVER from before shutdown.

Problem conclusion

  • CICS has been updated to ensure JVMSERVERs which are enabled up
until the point of shutdown are not incorrectly catalogued as
    disabled.
