Problem summary

• ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM IMS Tools Base for z/OS     *
  *                 Version 1 Release 8 (FMID: HAHN180) who use  *
  *                 the IMS Tools Knowledge Base.                *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: This APAR includes the following        *
  *                      enhancement and fixes:                  *
  *                                                              *
  *                      1.Support for validating and enforcing  *
  *                      the RECON ID naming rules was missing   *
  *                      in the RECON environment creation and   *
  *                      update processes. As a result, it was   *
  *                      possible to create RECON IDs that did   *
  *                      not follow the required naming          *
  *                      conventions.                            *
  *                      2.An S0C7 abend occurs when attempting  *
  *                      to extract repository members           *
  *                      associated with the RECON ID to be      *
  *                      deleted.                                *
  *                      3.The CSETUP command used by the IMS    *
  *                      DBDS report function stores             *
  *                      configuration information in a data set *
  *                      that is not intended for this purpose.  *
  *                      If a user does not have update          *
  *                      authority for that data set, an S913    *
  *                      abend occurs.                           *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *
  ****************************************************************
  This APAR includes the following enhancement and fixes:
  
  1.An enhancement is provided to enforce the RECON ID naming
  rules during RECON environment creation and update processing.
  2.This enhancement fixes an S0C7 abend that occurs during the
  RECON ID delete process.
  3.This enhancement fixes an S913 abend that occurs when a user
  attempts to display the IMS DBDS report.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1.Support has been added to enforce the RECON ID naming rules
  when creating or updating a RECON environment.
  2.The extract process for repository members associated with the
  RECON ID has been improved to prevent the S0C7 abend.
  3.The REXX procedure is updated to create a data set with update
  authority for storing the configuration information used by the
  CSETUP function. The procedure is also updated to ensure that
  the information is written to this data set.
