PH70543: DFHSO1001 CODE X'043C' OCCURS WHEN COLLECT STATISTICS IS ISSUED 26/04/08 PTF PECHANGE

Error description

• When EXEC CICS COLLECT STATISTICS issued for TCPIPSERVICEs,
  message
  DFHSO1001 A Communications Server TCP/IP callable NMI
  error (code X'043C') has occurred in module DFHSOIS is issued
  and COLLECT STATISTICS fails.
  This is due to when CICS called Comms Server function EZBNMIFR
  which returned the ENOBUFS / JRBuffTooSmall return codes and
  CICS does not handle those return codes correctly.
  You will see z/OS UNIX return code 7735006B(JRBuffTooSmall )
  returned for COLLECT STATISTICS in CICS trace entry.

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS issues MSGDFHSO1001 CODE X'043C'   *
  *                      when collecting sockets statistics.     *
  ****************************************************************
  When CICS is collecting sockets statistics, it calls
  Communications Server function `EZBNMIFR` passing a buffer.
  If `EZBNMIFR` finds that the buffer is too small then it returns
  a signed integer value of '-1' to CICS.
  CICS does not handle the '-1' value correctly and issues
  message:
      DFHSO1001 A Communications Server TCP/IP callable
      NMI error (code X'043C') has occurred in module DFHSOIS.
  

Problem conclusion

• UI92966
  CICS has been modified to handle the '-1' return value
  correctly.
