Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: DFSMS Cloud Data Manager users running a * * started task. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A user is able to select their SMF * * Record number with the SMFREC input * * parameter, but a fixed SMF Record * * number should have been provided for * * DFSMS Cloud Data Manager. * * * * The GBQSMRPT SMF Reporting module * * would output incorrect error messages * * when certain date filters were * * found. * * * * When sending a large number of * * objects to the cloud, space ABENDs * * may occur. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. * **************************************************************** The design of DFSMS Cloud Data Manager allowed users to select their own SMF record numbers, but a fixed SMF record number had been reserved and should have been used. Once an error condition was found in the date filter, error checking would continue and could misinterpret the filter and label valid sections as errors. Memory was being allocated and not properly freed when it was finished being used.
Problem conclusion
The SMFREC input parameter now allows users to select whether or not they want SMF records to be output by accepting values of YES or NO instead of the previous numeric values. DFSMS Cloud Data Manager now uses its fixed SMF record number 1752 instead of the input parameter value. GBQSMRPT no longer supports the SMF_RECORD_NUM filter. The DISPLAY GANCH modify command has been updated to properly display the new SMFREC input parameter value. GBQSMRPT will display the filters it receives on every run, but no longer outputs erroneous errors found in the date filters. The memory is now properly freed when it's finished being used.
