APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • When clients use NOTEST(DWARF,NOSEPARATE) and CODEPAGE(1390) as
compiler options, the DBCS characters in Working storage section
in CEEDUMP are garbled and do not display properly making
    debugging difficult.

    ****************************************************************
When a COBOL program is compiled with TEST, TEST(DWARF), or
NOTEST(DWARF) options, the compiler generates DWARF information
with COBOL data names translated from the CCSID in the
CODEPAGE to UTF-8. At execution time, during the CEEDUMP
process, the COBOL Runtime fails to use the CCSID specified
in the CODEPAGE when consuming the DWARF. This results in
a CEEDUMP where COBOL data names are inadvertently translated
from UTF-8 to CCSID 1047. The issue occurs with CCSID 939 or
    1390.

    Note:
    1. CCSID 1390 is Extended Japanese Katakana-Kanji Host Mixed
(SBCS CCSID 290 and DBCS CCSID 300).

    2. CCSID 939 is Japanese Latin-Kanji Host Mixed
(SBCS CCSID 1027 and DBCS CCSID 300).

Problem conclusion

  • The COBOL Runtime has been corrected. The correct CCSID
specified in the CODEPAGE is used during the CEEDUMP process.
